Bokatu: Does running the company take away from your involvement in coding or whatever?
Dave: It takes away from my involvement in coding almost completely, but Iend up spending plenty of time on whatever.
Bokatu: Can you describe aome of the benifits and pitalls of starting up your company?
Dave: It’s very, very risky, and the game market today is cut-throat.Personally, I don’t recommend starting a game company today unlessyou have significant backing and talented, experienced game developersrunning the company.
Bokatu: Do you have time to plays games during free time?
Dave: I am addicted to computer games. I wait until I get home, though. Weekendsoften end up game-playing festivals.
Bokatu: Describe a typical day at crack.com?
Dave: It usually isn’t typical. Some days, there are some really coolcode break-throughs, and we all huddle round and drool. Sometimes,we get some bizarre or fascinating biz opportunity, and we spendsignificant time debating whether or how to persue it. Some days,it’s nose-to-the-grindstone work, and no one really socializes.
Bokatu: Why the AMD k6-2 optimization when you hear intel has the best hardware for games?
Dave: Because the K6-2 “3DNow” ops let you use MMX instructions without theEMMS overhead. They basically finally let you utilize MMX instructions.
Bokatu: What is the favorite soft drink around crack dot com?
Dave: Seems like Dr. Pepper & Coke (of various caffeinated, decaf, and sugar-freecombinations).
Bokatu: What are your favorite feature in golgotha?
Dave: The Supergun 🙂
Bokatu: Have you seen many changes in the business since you’ve been around?
Dave: Less trust, more competition, more technology, less innovation.
Bokatu: Any new games planned in the future?
Dave: We’re probably going to focus on Golgotha until it ships and worry aboutthe next game after that. The market conditions change pretty quickly.
