We managed to ask GORE lead developer Joel Huenink a few questions about the current status of this FPS from 4D Rulers.
Tim: How’s Gore coming along? What are some of its latest features?
Joel: We’ve made more advances in the last 5 months than in our first two yearsof development. The are a lot of reasons for this, but primarily becausethe core technology of the engine’s networking was completed, allowing usto finish some work A to Z. Tool improvements, stability and teamwork havehelped us make good progress as well. Some of the latest features we areworking on are facial animations on the player. This makes it quite funwhen you beat your opponent because his pain or death animations show thisshocking look on his face. The guys make different faces based on whatweapon he is carrying too. So the bigger the weapon you have selected, themore cocky your player looks. The chain saw (meat saw) face is pretty muchan insane look, which is very funny to see these crazed maniacs runningaround with giant meat saws.
Tim: Any chance of a public demo?
Joel: Yes. We’re getting pretty close now, we have about everything in the testdemo now. We’ve been optimizing for a few weeks now with level of detailand some new vis techniques, along with various programming optimizations.
Tim: When can we expect to see it released?
Joel: When its done. This should happen within the next few months.
